Claire Emery lives and works in Missoula, Montana. She combines her love for the land, hard work and detail in her woodcuts which illuminate working landscapes and wild places in the West.

Making woodcuts and wood engravings is one of the oldest says of reproducing a picture many times. It requires a suitable piece of wood, a good set of sharp knives or gouges, ink and sturdy paper for printing the image carved into the wood. Woodblock prints are time consuming to make and include are a meticulous process, sometimes taking well over 50 hours to complete.
