First Annual Skittles for CERF Tournament

The Purple Pomegranate announces its first annual Skittles for CERF Tournament this September. The Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) is a national nonprofit that provides emergency assistance and business development support to craft artists across the United States. Each September galleries, artists, and online marketplaces work as a community to fundraise and conduct outreach for CERF nationwide.

Skittles, the 14th century ancestor of modern bowling, is a fast-moving game in which a top is spun across a game board to knock down skittles pins and accumulate points. During the Skittles for CERF Tournament, players will compete to earn the highest score from a single pull. The $1.00 entry fee for each pull will be donated to CERF. The Skittles Champion will win a Skittles game for his or her own home play (a $150.00 value) from The Purple Pomegranate.

Stop into The Purple Pomegranate at 222 Central Avenue in downtown Whitefish any day during the month of September to enter the Skittles for CERF Tournament. With one yank on the string, you can thrill to the rattle and roar of the top as it dances its way to the high points!

New "Gourdolin" by Steve Catania

It's been busy, busy and I haven't had much time to post. We have gotten in new "stuff" and I wanted to let you know about the Gourdolin from Steve Catania. In the photo, it's the one behind the drum. It is a fun, folk style mandolin with a unique hardshell gourd body. Gourds have been used as resonators for musical instruments in many cultures since ancient times. They are exceptionally strong and lightweight which has made them an excellent, natural choice for centuries. Gourdolins are as fascinating to look at as they are pleasing to hear.
